On 22 January I had the privilege of introducing former Labour leader, Neil Kinnock. I reminded the audience of his “I warn you” speech on the eve of the 1983 General Election: If Margaret Thatcher wins tomorrow “I warn you not to be ordinary. I warn you not to be young. I warn you not to fall ill. I warn you not to get old.” It feels appropriate again today as we approach a general election with the Tories looking for a second term.
Neil spoke eloquently and without notes about the economy and the damage the current government were doing.
